Once you have been signing with your baby for several weeks or months and your baby has mastered the basic signs that cover their needs (such as milk, more, eat, drink, etc) will probably have to expand or firm vocabulary (like your own).
The world around you and reward your child with endless opportunities to do just that. You can teach your baby a sign that has meaning for nearly any situation you find yourself in.
family members are a good way to start expanding your child‘s vocabulary. From “mother” and “father” of the brothers is also a good way to start, and you can create signals behalf of family members. A good suggestion I’ve heard from parents is to use the first letter of the name of the person in a manner reminiscent of that person. Samantha Di aunt is a nurse – you can use the letter “s” on the wrist to combine the first letter of his name with his occupation.
Festivals and events are also interesting ways to spice up the activities of the firm. Think of the baby can see objects at home that he or she can not be too sure. For example, during Christmas, Corbin learned the signs of “Santa”, “tree”, “lights” and “party.” It is also a good way to introduce your child to their culture or religion.
The natural world offers many things to learn. Take a stroll and teach your child the signs of the animals and he or she sees signs of “flower” or “tree”, “sky” or “clouds.” The night is a good opportunity to show your baby the sign for “moon”, “bed”, or “dream.” Enjoy your daily routine to add signs of a growing vocabulary of your baby.
The books are a great source of inspiration for us. We have books of all kinds, and sign Corbin likes best are the books of the animals. Babies love animals and this is a great way to introduce the signs of the animals.
Television can not be the best activity for your baby or child, but when you do watch TV together to make the most of it by signing up for the things your baby sees on the screen. Thus television becomes an interactive learning tool for your child. All that you as a parent, you have to do is find good opportunities for the firm and act on them when they occur. If you use ASL signs look ahead and be prepared to use them when the opportunity arises, and if they are its signs, is as easy as using a little creativity. Good luck!
